“Seldom, very seldom, does complete truth belong to any human disclosure; seldom can it happen that something is not a little disguised or a little mistaken.” -Emma

I guess this just boils down to remember not to believe everything you hear, not to gossip, and not to twist the truth.

Sensibly Silly People

“Silly things do cease to be silly if they are done by sensible people in an impudent way.” -Emma

All in all this is a very very true statement. Yet, I think we would be well advised to remember that sensible things to cease to be sensible when spoken by a silly person in a manner not intended.

In Vain I have Struggled

“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.” -Pride and Prejudice

As we all know Mr. Darcy is madly in love with Miss Bennet despite their differences in society. He struggles against his own feelings for her and try's to repress them but as we also know love concurs all. In sharing his feelings to Miss Bennet he showed great courage. This is something we should all remember, to show ones love and affections. Do not hide your feeling's just because they are not as society say's they should be but instead be true to ones self in all manners of life.

Friendship

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”
-Northanger Abbey

Our friends are some of the most dear people in the world. They are there in times of joy and times of sorrow. Let us not forget them and take them for granted but instead love them fully with our hearts.

A Library for every Occasion

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! -- When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
― Pride and Prejudice

I completely understand where Jane is coming from! I myself have a whole list full of ideas for my very own personal library when I get a place of my own.

A window seat just for reading is perfect (I actually worked with my dad to build one into the window in my bed room) But I would say it would be nice if I could have book shelves near by.

And if I ever find myself in a small cottage with spacious attics then this would be what I would use it for.

However, I will say the most charming of them all would be a hidden room full of books and comfy chairs. I do not think Jane could disagree!

Life seems but a quick succession of busy nothings. -Jane Austen

Need I say any more? ( Well not really but I'm going to anyways.) We flitter through life wasting time on nothing of importance. Imagine all the time could be spent with loved ones and friends, on a worthy book, or a letter long over due. Instead we waste away worrying about yesterdays mistakes and tomorrows troubles and in the presence of it all forget the present moment.

Colonel Brandon and Mrs. Whickham

“The more I know of the world, the more I am convinced that I shall never see a man whom I can really love. I require so much!”
― Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility

Oh dear I feel I have shocked poor Alan but alas at the moment this is exactly how I feel. Are there no longer any gentlemen in the world? Or are they just figures of Jane's imagination? Surly not! Eventually I hope we shall all find our Mr. Darcys, Mr. Knightleys, and Colonel Brandons. Of course at the moment I'm not going to worry about finding my Mr. Darcy. Instead I will go on a hunt for food...and not I'm not anything like Lydia Bennet...that is unless you wave a bit of food in my face.....

Oh dear. Now it seem's I've even shocked Mrs.Whickham herself.
